Follow-up on TITAN Model Access Decision
Dear Mahmood Lab Team,
I’m writing to follow up on the decision to reject my request for access to the TITAN model weights.
While I understand your intention to restrict commercial use under your license, rejecting applications solely based on employment affiliation is unjustified and reflects a clear double standard.
My intended use of the model is strictly for research and falls within the non-commercial scope of your license. Working at a tech company does not automatically mean that the work is product-related or commercial in nature.
I would also like to point out that much of modern academic research—including projects like yours—relies on open-source tools and infrastructure developed and maintained by individual and industry contributors. There is significant collaboration and interdependence between academia, independent researchers, and industry, and access decisions should reflect that spirit of exchange.
